![]() Unlike in the older games in the PGA Tours series, you can’t dramatically add spin while the ball’s in the air, which fits in with the more realistic feel of the more recent games. You set up a shot to get backspin before you begin your swing. Also, backspin will allow you to stop a ball dead after landing if the club you’re using will hit the ball exactly the distance of the hole. The reason you’ll want to get backspin on a shot is because it’ll allow you to overshoot to get over a hill on a green, spinning the ball back towards the hole rather than trying to putt uphill. So that you can be a bit more precise with your shot, here’s everything you need to know about how to get backspin in PGA Tour 2K21. For each shot, you’ll need to take the wind, lie of the ball, distance, and shot type into account. Once again, Tiger is looking like the cream of the crop. The PGA Tour series is back, without Tiger Woods or Rory McIlroy in the title, and it’s even deeper than you’ll remember. It'll probably take you a while to get used to the new dual-analog swinging system, so you'll get plenty of chances to check out the deep rough. The graphics have been improved as well, particularly the grass on the courses. Although there's still a lot we don't know about Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06, we do know that there will be 8 new courses to try your hand at, including Doral and Cog Hill, as well as some new golfers to challenge. We were told that you'll probably be able to get one or two GameBreakers over the course of an 18 hole round. The GameBreaker serves a defensive purpose, as well, allowing you to knock down your opponent's meter if you're clinging to a lead. Your drives off the tee will go farther, your chip shots have a better chance of going in, and a putt will be almost automatic. Depending on the shot you are attempting, the GameBreaker will allow you to do different things. ![]() Once the meter is full, you can tap a button during your backswing to activate it. Basically, every solid shot you make will add to a GameBreaker meter located at the top of the screen. Amazingly, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 now features a "GameBreaker" system, similar to the one found in games like NBA Street Vol. The game's other major change actually comes courtesy of some of the other big horses in EA's stable. Although some people might be frustrated by the system at first, it will ultimately offer people more control over their shots. This can only be done during the backswing, so you've got to have steady hands of you want to hit a quality shot. While you're using the left analog stick during your backswing, you can use the right analog to move a small, red dot on a model of the ball on the side of the screen. The same goes for the sides of the ball, and this is where things can get a bit tricky, as you can get in serious trouble if you accidentally slice it and spin it to the side. Hitting the ball near the bottom will give it backspin, while hitting it on the top will cause it to roll after landing. The left analog will still be used to determine the strength of your drive (as well as any inadvertent hooks or slices that might results from a skewed swing), but now your right thumb will be able to get in on the action.īasically, the placement system is similar to the way you put "English" on a ball when playing billiards. Now, however, the developers have given the player the ability to decide not only how hard he wants to hit the ball, but also where he wants to hit it. In the previous games, all you had to do was pull back on the analog to start your backswing, then push forward to hit the ball and follow through. One of the biggest changes has been made to the series' innovative analog swing system. Although we didn't get to see it in action, the game's producers told us that the TigerProofing system has changed, too, and it will now alter courses to reflect the skills of the player, as opposed to having the player manually make the changes. ![]() We were told that the entire putting system has been overhauled, but EA wasn't quite prepared to go into details yet. Gone is TigerVision, the system that essentially made putts automatic, as are the Caddy Tips. Let's start by going over some of the features that have been tweaked a bit or have been taken out altogether. We got a chance to check out this year's iteration, and it looks like they're shooting for a hole-in-one once again. The developers generally add innovative features and quickly remove the ones that didn't work so well, and they've done a great job of listening to the feedback from fans. The Tiger Woods PGA Tour games always end up on our list of Editor's Choice games, regardless of who reviews them. Out of all of their series, however, there's one franchise in particular that is consistently excellent, year in and year out. Every year, Electronic Arts releases updates of their most popular titles, resulting in games that may be either better or worse than their predecessors. ![]()
