In 1984 began the “Cosby Show” which was considered the family show America saw. It is regarded as the best comedy concert film ever to be produced. In 1983 the film “Bill Cosby-Himself” was released and that got him superstardom. This earned him more popularity which helped him get records like “Bill Cosby is a very funny fellow…Right?” and “To Russell, my brother, whom I slept with”, by Warner Brothers. In 1963 he became so popular he was invited to the Tonight Show. He began as a standup comedian in Gaslight Café in New York and from there went on to book shows n cities like Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington DC. While at college he would wait tables during his free time and earn tips from customers by making them laugh. He earned a scholarship in sports for his college but never got to complete his college as he decided to earn his livelihood through comedy. He was also an athlete and loved playing sports like baseball, football, and basketball. ![]() Bill had a penchant to make people laugh which he did right from his school days. His father was in the American Navy and his mother was a maid doing cleaning jobs. Bill Cosby is today one of the most talked-about American stars whose career spans from 1961 to the time he went to prison in 2018. ![]()
